HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Toxicity Data:

Considered slightly toxic by all exposure routes, due to alkaline nature of product.

LD50 Rat greater than 4.8 mg/kg

Dermal LD50 Rabbit greater than 3 mg/kg

Inhalation : LC50 Rat greater than 2.2 mgm/Lt

inspired air per 1 hour (rat)

Acute Effects:

Swallowed:

May be harmful if swallowed, in particular by infants.

Ingestion can result in nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and/or convulsions.

Eyes:

A severe eye irritant.

May cause redness and conjunctivitis.

Skin

Contact with skin will result in irritation.

Repeated or prolonged skin contact may have dermatitic effects.

Inhaled:

Inhalation of dust will result in respiratory irritation.

In severe cases congestion of lungs can occur, resulting in shortness of breath.

Pulmonary oedema may result.

FIRST AID:

Swallowed:

Rinse mouth out with water.

DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Give plenty of water to drink.

In the event of vomiting occurring, give more water to drink to ensure adequate dilution.

Seek medical attention.

Eyes:

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Eyelids to be held open.

Seek medical assistance if redness or pain persists.

Skin:

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.

Launder clothing before re-use.

If redness or irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Inhaled:

Remove victim from exposure. Avoid becoming a casualty.

For all but most minor symptoms arrange for patient to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.

Advice to Doctor:

Treat symptomatically.
