HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Toxicity Data:

As sodium hypochlorite

LD50 : Oral Rat 12mg/kg

An alkaline poison and primary irritant to mucous membranes.

Short term exposure by all routes is considered harmful.

Acute Effects:

Swallowed:

May cause severe irritation to mucous membranes.

May cause irritation to gastrointestinal tract with vomiting and pain and delirium.

Eyes:

A severe eye irritant.

Prolonged contamination of eyes can result in permanent injury.

Skin

Contact with skin will result in moderate irritation.

Repeated or prolonged skin contact may lead to dermatitis or skin burns.

Inhaled:

Not normally an inhalation risk.

Inhalation of mists or aerosols can produce respiratory irritation and pulmonary oedema.

Chronic Effects:

No known adverse chronic health effects, but unnecessary exposure to any chemical should be avoided. This product as with any

chemical may enhance allergic conditions, but there are no known medical conditions which might be aggravated by exposure to

this product.

FIRST AID:

Swallowed:

Immediately rinse mouth with water. Give water to drink. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water immediately.

DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Give water to drink.

If vomiting occurs, give further water to drink to achieve effective dilution.

Seek medical assistance.

Eyes:

Immediately irrigate with copious quantities of water for at least 15 minutes.

Eyelids to be held open.

Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin.

Seek medical assistance and transport to hospital or medical centre.

Skin:

Immediately wash contaminated areas/skin with copious quantities of water.

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.

If irritation, swelling, blistering or redness occurs, seek medical advice.

For skin burns immediately flood burnt area with plenty of water and cover with a clean, dry dressing.
