PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Exposure Standard:
Sodium hydroxide 2mg/m3 Peak Limitation.
National Occupational Health and Safety Commission 1995. (NOHSC/ASCC)
Exposure standard is the time weighted average concentration of the work atmosphere over a normal 8 hour work day and a 40 hour
work week.
Nearly all workers may be repeatedly exposed to this level, day after day, without adverse effects. These Exposure Standards are
as issued guidelines for good practice. All atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a level as is practically possible.
These Exposure standards should not be used as fine lines between safe and dangerous concentrations.
Peak Limitations:
For some rapidly acting substances and irritants, the averaging of airborne concentration over an eight hour period is inappropriate.
These substances may induce acute effects after relatively brief exposure to high concentrations, so that the exposure standard for
these substances represents the maximum or “peak limitation” exposure standards should be determined over the shortest
analytically practicable period of time, but under no circumstances should a single determination exceed 15 minutes.
Engineering Controls:
No special ventilation required.
Avoid generation and inhalation of mists or aerosols.
Personal Protection:
Avoid skin and eye contact.
The following personal protective equipment should be worn when using the concentrate and solutions:
•
PVC rubber gloves, safety glasses, faceshield, chemical goggles.
Always wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.
