Toxicity Data:
As silica
Oral LD50 Rat : 3160 mg/kg
Toxic by inhalation
Chronic exposure to respirable dust may cause silicosis.
Acute Effects:
Swallowed:
Practically non-harmful.
May cause irritation to the mouth, throat and stomach.
Eyes:
A moderate eye irritant.
May cause watering of the eyes.
Skin
Practically non-harmful.
Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause irritation.
May have abrasive action on the skin.
Inhaled:
May be harmful if contacted by respirable dust.
Not considered a feature of normal use.
Chronic Effects:
The only known chronic health effect is that of breathing respirable dust of silica. As product is in the form of 100 mesh white
quartz, very small quantity of respirable dust (particles less than 5 micrometres diameter) are encountered.
FIRST AID:
Swallowed:
Rinse mouth thoroughly with water immediately and give water to drink.
DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING.
Seek medical advice if effects persist.
Eyes:
Immediately irrigate with copious quantity of water for at least 15 minutes.
Eyelids to be held open.
Seek medical assistance if symptoms persist.
Skin:
Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.
Seek medical advice if effects persist.
Inhaled:
Not considered a feature of normal use.
Advice to Doctor:
Treat symptomatically.
